3 Seater Bastiano Sofa by Tobia Scarpa
Sold Out
A scarcely seen three seater leather sofa designed by Afra & Tobia Scarpa and manufactured by Knoll International.
Featuring minimalistic solid timber frame with original leather cushions. The base of the fame is fully sprung making the sofa very comfortable. The framework can be taken apart fairly easily which is very practical for transportation and maneuvering.
The timber frame has been professionally re-sprayed in an off white to match the original paint colour. The cushions have all been cleaned and polished with leather restorer, they are in great condition with a lovely patina, they do have some polished in marks as to be expected. There is one loop spring missing but this doesn't effect the comfort of the sofa in anyway.
The sofa comes with great provenance having been originally purchased and owned by Anthony Haden Guest a British-American writer, reporter, cartoonist, art critic, poet, and socialite who lives in New York and London, who is said to be the inspiration for the Peter Fallow character in the Tom Wolfe novel 'The Bonfire of the Vanities'. The sofa was purchased alongside other items belonging to Guest that had been in storage for a number of years and still had the removal companies item labels present detailing his name.
